Cassiar Highway - August 8 & 9, 2009

CLICK ON ANY PHOTO TO ENLARGE IT.

They're right, there is some construction when you take the Cassiar route instead of the Alaska Highway. This went on for about 19 miles or so.

At least we're not alone.....

Still a few miles to go....

Look, the construction ends when you leave Yukon!

Just a rest area sign for anyone following behind us.

Now we are on paved road again. Feels great!

Lines painted on the roadway - what is this some sort of super highway!

That's one of the reasons we're on this road.

More rest area information signs for those folks following us later this month and into September.

More signs.

Take a look at the fireweed. The local folklore says when the fireweed blooms reach the top, (like these) then it is six weeks until winter. This was the most blooms we saw north of the Hyder turnoff - all the rest looked like they had finished blooming some time ago.......
